Who Are Smith and Swepson Opticians?

Amy has practiced as an Optometrist, after achieving a first class honours degree from the University of Bradford in 2003, and completing her pre-registration qualification in 2004. She is one of a few Optometrists who has completed further training to qualify as an Independent Prescriber, gained in 2017. Her specialities are in Glaucoma, diabetes and paediatric eye health. Her passion for her professional career is balanced with a love of swimming, horse riding, film and theatre going.

Carole graduated as a Dispensing Optician from City & East London College in 1980, and has been practising for 40 years, working with manufacturers to find the most cutting edge design and technically advanced eyewear, including being part of the team that introduced the world famous Dame Edna Everage glasses. Carole is responsible for all eyewear, engaging your needs and wants to fully understand the style, look and feel you crave, utilising the latest spectacle lens technology.

Ali lives in Cheltenham and has worked as a receptionist for Smith and Swepson for five years now. She really enjoys the family atmosphere and greeting both old and new patients.
She and her husband enjoy country walks and spending time with their now grown up children and grandchildren. They all love barbecues in the garden and have them all year round. Her favourite thing is to see her children and partners in church, then have them all back home and round the table for lunch after.

Clare has lived in Cheltenham for over 30 years. Her particular interests in optometry include contact lens fitting and she is one of only around 300 Fellows of the British Contact Lens Association, and she studied for a Certificate in Specific Learning Difficulties at the University of Gloucestershire to increase her understanding of conditions such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD.

Since qualifying from City and Islington College in 1995 Liz has gained experience in both Independent and multiple owned practices, finding her comfort in the Independent sector where she can utilise her wealth of experience to assist patients. In 2007 Liz ventured into Holistic Therapies, with the ethos of treating the whole body. Having had an appetite for extending her knowledge she has kept up with developments within the industry, including gaining a a diploma in Sports Vision in 2008.

Felicia joined us in 2019 with a wealth of experience gained from running her own business back in Zimbabwe. She really enjoys gardening and being involved in youth work, she is married to Steve and their 2 daughters are doctors in Johannesburg.

Bo joined the team two years ago as the practice guard dog and as you can see she must've interviewed well as she doesn't look like a typical candidate. Her favourite things are receiving loads of fuss and tap-dancing.
